Box of Fun

A few months ago I helped film a TV show for the Travel Channel. It really made think outside of my usual shooting habits and really got my brain thinking in a different creative way. Ever since then, I have been experimenting with different skit ideas.  Here is my latest greatest one yet.

China part 3

As soon as I found out I was going to China my first thought was, I gotta see the great wall. After doing some research I realized that it was half way across China from the place we were going. Bear had the same thought so we decided to play tourist and fly to Beijing to check the great wall off our list. Its a pretty amazing thing to see. You cant really fathom how big it is until you get there. If you ever get the chance to see, dont pass it up. But let me warn you, walking those steps is no joke!!!!!

Here is a little GoPro montage of clips I gathered from around the world this summer.

China part 2

Bear is a funny person to travel with. He starts shooting portraits of people with his film cams and old polaroids and somehow makes people go into a frenzy. They get so into that people start crowding around him. Its funny however when they go to look at the photo and realize that its not a digital camera and they cant see their photo instantly. It was a lot of fun going somewhere that we were the obvious tourist.

China part 1

Bryan Soderlind and I were apart of an amazing trip to China to surf the Silver Dragon Tidal Bore. Afterwards Bryan and I flew to Shanghai and Beijing to simply be tourist and see what China is really all about.

I decided i wanted to make something different than my usual wake edit so i decided to make a skit. This concept was decided in the morning and we went straight out and shot it in about 2 hours. It was my first time trying to make an old black and white silent movie type edit.

Here is a fun edit I did with the Obscura wakeskate team at our Liquid Force team shoot this year.

Here is a 2012 Liquid Force teaser hot off the press.

I shot a Day In The Life video with Danny Hampson one day. That night we sat on his dock and did some fishing and I ended up catching the biggest large mouth bass i’ve ever caught.

I was born August 22nd 1982 in the first town in the very first State, Lewes, Delaware. Since I was 5 months old my whole family lived summers in Ocean City, MD and winters in Marathon, FL (Florida Keys). My dad, Stormy, was a commercial longline fisherman so we would go south in the winter to avoid the cold weather. My dad is still a longline fisherman in the summer out of Ocean City and for the past 6 years has been running the boat as a surf and dive charter boat in the Virgin Islands from December – May. He aslo catches sharks for aquariums for a month in the summer as well. My mom, Bev, is the chef on the boat during charter season and makes jewelry in the summer. She has been a silversmith and glass artist for most of her life. My brother, Drex, spends his summers as a real estate agent and surf guide in Nicaragua and spends the winter as a captain and a dive master on the boat with my dad.

I graduated high school in 2000 and moved straight to Orlando with hopes of becoming a professional wakeboarder. I turned pro in 2002. In 2006 I bought my first good video camera, Panasonic DVX100b, and started filming my first wake video right away. I finished the video, ”Box of Fun” in May 2009. In 2007 I started filming for Liquid Force and have been the head of Liquid Force Films ever since. I finished one year of film production at Valencia Community College in 2000-2001 but started traveling too much due to wakeboarding so I quit school and took the opportunity to travel the world. Now its 2012 and I’m still traveling, wakeboarding and documenting every adventure.

I have a B license for skydiving and am a certified rescue scuba diver. I’ve been surfing and skateboarding since I was 7. I would spend my winters in the Keys wakeboarding and skateboarding and summers in Ocean City skateboarding and surfing.  I learned how to wakeboard when I was 8 but was kinda scared of the water so I didn’t do it much till I about 13. After that I couldn’t get enough of it and its gotten me to this point in my life.
